Armory uses a memory-hard key derivation function called ROMix-SHA-512 which is specifically designed to resist GPU-based acceleration. Performance tuning for Armory is similar to tuning for Bitcoin Unlimited/Classic/XT/Core, but unfortunately it's much more complex.
